Reviews
Without doubt, Batignano provides the perfect setting for Scarlatti's opera and is perfect for the purpose for which the work was comissioned --- the space provided by the garden in front of the convent of Santa Croce certainly contributed to the success of the production. Carlos Wagner's production, Laura Hopkin's smooth-flowing mobile sets, and Chris Davy's accomplished lighting plot all took excellent advantage of the idiosyncrasies of the natural backdrop that make the festival so special. All four singers were very good --- technically at ease, both dramatically and vocally.
