Transcript from Radio Programme
--- The text by Ian Burton is beautifully written and very intense. As an audience, stone by stone, you build the image of a man about whom you knew nothing, and who feels like an old friend after the performance. The music in this show is diverse and well chosen, from different styles and periods in the life of Korngold. Beautifully performed by the young baritone Karl Daymond and pianist Ingrid Jacoby, who don't have an easy acting part in this show, since they don't speak, but are constantly and explicitly present. This production is once more one of those pearls of good taste, soberness and artistic authenticity that have become the trademark of Transparant during the last years.
Transparant evokes the memory of Erich-Wolfgang Korngold
--- In the sober but efficient staging by Carlos Wagner the actor Michael Culkin, the baritone Karl Daymond and the pianist Ingrid Jacoby used their particularly eloquent talent to bring the figure and the work of Erich Wolfgang Korngold back to life. The whole piece is well put-together, without over-long passages, making this one of the best productions of "Transparant". It is a pity that there weren't more performances: Korngold deserves to be better loved.
